I Will Never Hear the End of This

Okay here is what happened. I was volunteering at the temple this morning 8-12. Our ward has a shift we fill every Tuesday and I like to feel like I am contributing. I got to the temple and was running a little late because of traffic. I had my purse in my hand and then a bag with my comfortable shoes in it (I either work in the kitchen or the laundry and we are on our feet the whole time so they suggested to bring better shoes). I decided there was no reason to bring in my purse into the temple (except that everything I needed was in there) so I put it into the trunk not thinking that my recommend, cell phone and keys were all in there. Who knows what is wrong with me!! Right when I closed the trunk, I knew I was in trouble. The first thing I thought is that Sam was never going to let me forget this moment for the rest of our lives! If you know me well, I am one that never loses or misplaces things. I always know where almost everything is and there is a place for every little thing. Sam is the one that loses EVERYTHING!! Oh, and I make sure to tell him every time he does!

Anyway back to my story... so I go into the temple feeling like the dumbest person alive. I told them I locked my recommend and keys in the car. They were really nice and able to look up my recommend so that was all covered and I was able to help in the kitchen still. As for getting a hold of Sam to break the news to him was the hard part. I called his cell a billion times. Sam didn't have school until this afternoon luckily so he was still at home. He always has his phone on vibrate because he can't have it on at school so it was in his backpack or somewhere he wouldn't be able to hear it. It didn't help that he was still asleep either. I then tried calling my work phone to try to wake him up but I had made it so my phone would forward to the office while I was at the temple. Genius idea, I know!! I finally got ahold of him at about 10:00 and he took the news pretty well. Our temple is about 15-20 minutes away from us so Sam called our fabulous friend, Jen and she was able to bring Sam to the temple. Thank you, thank you for doing that!! Everything worked out! I finished volunteering and the second I went outside Sam was waiting with a big grin on his face. He so loves it that this happened to me!

A funny thing too is that I was afraid to tell people in the temple that I had locked my keys in the car but it turned out that almost every lady I told said they had locked their keys in the car at least a few times. Who knew this was such a common thing! I am sure this story is going to be resurfacing forever!

I feel like I've locked my keys in before, but I don't remember the specific instance. Not in my adult life. I'm glad they took care of you at the temple!

What a story Ginger! Welcome to the old women's club! I have locked my keys in the car at Sami's school before. I'm glad it all worked out and Sam was able to come because it costs a lot more to hire a locksmith. I guess it's good that Sam has something to harass you about so that every time you bring up that he loses everything he will pull this one out for you.

hey it could have been worse; at least the car wasn't running while the keys were locked in it

LOL, I might harass you forever about this one, too!!! Ok, probably not because then it'll happen to me. Now that I think of it, I had a dream last night that I did lock my keys in the car.... Uh oh. Pending doom. (and I only have 1 key)
